Michael's Journey

June 30, 2010, Michael's journey to attend The Rice Diet Program began with many medications and a starting weight of 237 lbs. After an initial Durham visit of five weeks, he returned home, worked hard and remained mindful and focused on eating healthier and eating low sodium. He returned to Durham after a year away at 181 lbs. and as of last week is proud to report an additional loss, with his current weight of 164 lbs.

Michael recently emailed us to say: "I have long given up all scripts for high blood pressure, cholesterol and my blood sugar is well within normal limits. I eat very little sodium, enjoy 25 to 30 miles a week of walking, and mindfulness in purpose and life has worked very well for me.

I recently came back from a extended vacation in Europe and Russia. Because of our tour and cultural differences with regard to food, it was difficult to control that part of my life as well as I do at home. However, using all the tips I learned at the Rice House I was able to keep things under control and found myself with a mere gain of 4 lbs. in the three weeks I was overseas. I attribute almost all of the gain to added sodium. Since returning home, I have lost all the gained weight and dropped another pound.

That is where I am today, and as always I am incredibly grateful for all I have learned from the staff at The Rice Diet Program. Perhaps I will see you some time next year.

All my best and thank you.

Dieta at Home

"I am 50 pounds less than when I first came to you, and in reasonably good health. I had a knee replacement in 2006 which was successful. That and other issues have led to the weight loss and much better eating habits. I am, indeed, far more 'mindful' than ever, and I now look at salt and sugar and see ... death.

I have often told people that if there really are angels of God on earth, they are at the Rice House. I look back now and realize how my time with you all changed my life for the better, in so many ways I cannot count. Please extend my best wishes to all, including Drs. Neelon and Rosati."
