Research That Speaks to the Heart of Health
Join us for our next webinar, Wednesday, June 1st @ 6 p.m. EST.
Kitty Rosati and Anna LaBarre, the Rice Diet dietitians, will again summarize their favorite research for promoting health and preventing and reversing heart disease. The types and qualities of protein, fat and fiber in our diets are three of the most important issues to be understood; so our dietitians will translate the latest and most relevant science in these arenas into delicious and easily digestible bites!
From research nuggets to recipe tips, join us to better understand the true cost and health benefits of improving your omega 6:3 ratio, choosing grass-fed over grain-fed beef, and knowing how to increase the type of fiber you most need. Salud!

Welcome, Katie
As the new store manager, Katie Horn is thrilled to be the newest member of the Rice Diet team. The Rice Diet Store is an educational arm of the weight loss and heart disease reversal program, as well as a hidden-gem-resource for the community. The Rice Diet Store offers the largest selection of high-quality, low-sodium, imported and locally made artisan, specialty and gourmand items available in one place. Despite its boutique nature, it proudly undercuts the local competition's prices.
Part of Katie's charm is her palpable desire to educate the community about healthy foods and healthy cooking, and she has the ability to take the Rice Diet Store to the next level. She will be the gateway for community discovery, as she will be appearing at local businesses and community organization meetings for healthy food tastings or cooking demonstrations.
Prior to her work in the store, Katie has held numerous jobs in food and retail businesses from New York City to her beloved hometown of Durham.

Farewell, Ira
Ira Green, Rice Diet Store manager has left his post at the store to pursue his passion in helping overweight children achieve their health goals at Camp Shining Stars.
"Working at the Rice Diet Program the past three years has been very rewarding for me," said Green. "Seeing adult transformations when eating healthy plus incorporating exercise and spirituality into their daily lives has helped me to make changes in my camp's program."
Green, in the past nine years, has helped over a thousand children at Camp Shining Stars, a non-profit camp in Wilson, North Carolina (www.campshiningstars.org). Green is also teaming with Stacey Halprin, a frequent Oprah Show guest to launch WeightLoss4Youth.com, the first secure online social media group for overweight children.
Camp Shining Stars is an hour drive from the Rice Diet Program. You can reach Ira via his website, campshiningstars.org, if you would like to bring a youthful family member who would benefit from Camp Shining Stars while you are attending the Rice Diet Program.

A Movie Must: "Forks Over Knives"
